Well, after a morning of deliberation, we are staying another night. I hate to take another zero day so soon after Hot Springs, but I’m pretty sure I’d regret it if we moved forward. Ben is especially careful not to push me. He said he doesn’t want me sick out there in the backcountry. I’m still queasy, but I’ve so far managed to keep down 2 pieces of toast. Although, when I move to help clean or pack up, the queasiness creeps back in.

Our friends left for the trail around 12p. I was sad to see them go, but hope we’ll catch up at some point. Regardless, I expect that we’ll eventually get out of sync. It’s inevitable, but for now, it’s been nice to have the social motivation to tackle the day and mountains.

I managed to spend the entire day in the hotel room. Ben left twice: once to get lunch and the other to grab ice cream and soda. As I rested, I caught up with family and our online trail journal.

In the evening, we binged on HGTV Tiny House Hunters. It’s 10:30p now, way too late. But, we slept in until 8a this morning and I think that I’ll get good sleep tonight now that I’m feeling better. Tomorrow we will tackle 10 miles, pretty much all uphill. We will be climbing from about 1,700 feet to over 5,000. I’m not excited. However, I’m grateful that my stomach is settled and I can be stronger for the challenge.  I’m even more grateful for a husband who pushes me to slow down and take care of myself so we can be successful in this endeavor.
